Walking through the doors of a CrossFit gym for the first time can feel like stepping onto a different planet. You see pull-up bars, heavy barbells, and people doing things that look impossible. If you’re feeling a side of "gymtimidation," take a breath. Every "firebreather" you see once had their first day, too.

1. The CrossFit FLxR Bag Checklist

Success starts before you leave the house. To stay focused on the WOD (Workout of the Day), pack these basics:

  • Flat-Soled Shoes: Cross-trainers like Reebok Nanos or Nike Metcons are best. Avoid those super-cushioned running shoes; you want a stable base for lifting.

  • Hydration: Bring a reusable bottle. You’re going to need it halfway through the AMRAP! We have a touch free water station!

  • Long Socks: Essential for rope climb days or protecting your shins during deadlifts.

  • A Positive Mindset: You don't need to be "in shape" to start. You just need to show up.

2. Understanding the "Box"

We don't have "zones" or rows of TVs. At FLxR, the floor is open for a reason:

  • The Whiteboard: This is your roadmap. It tells you the stimulus, the movements, and the goal for the day.

  • The Rig: Where the magic (and the pull-ups) happens.

  • The Platforms: This is your space for Olympic lifting and power movements.

3. The "First Day" Reality Check

Unlike a big-box gym where you wander around alone, at FLxR, you have a coach.

  • Scaling is Queen/King: If the workout calls for 100 pull-ups and you can’t do one yet, don’t sweat it. We’ll have you doing ring rows or banded movements.

  • The Community Secret: In a normal gym, people look at their phones. At CrossFit FLxR, the loudest cheers are usually for the person finishing last. We’re rooting for you.
